While we do things a little bit different than other carpet and upholstery cleaners, we welcome questions. For decades carpet and upholstery cleaning has been done primarily with detergents followed by hot water extraction. But we are happy to bring our clients a different option that allows for faster dry times and less wasted water.

Reduce Water Waste

Traditional carpet and upholstery cleaning waste large amounts of water. Over-wetting of carpets not only takes longer to dry, usually between 3 to 8 hours, but it can also cause stains to reappear due to what is known as a “wicking” effect. The most troubling part of the traditional cleaning method is the use of chemically laden water. If this water is not disposed of properly, it winds up as “run-off,” which finds its way back into our rivers, streams, soil, and oceans.

At TrueGreen, we primarily use a bonnet cleaning method, which allows us to use only a fraction of the water that a “steam cleaner” uses. Not only is it the most sustainable method of cleaning, but it is the most effective way to clean with our patented carbonated solutions.

Rinse-Free & No Dirt-Attracting Residue

Another common problem with using an extraction method is it often leaves a residue in your carpet or upholstery. The cleaning agent, typically soaps or detergents, must be thoroughly rinsed out of your carpet and upholstery fibers. Much like washing a load of laundry, if a freshwater rinse is not performed, soap will remain in your carpet and continue to attract dirt and oils. Which, in turn, will make your carpet dirtier, faster. One added benefit of cleaning with carbonation is that no dirt-attracting residue is left on your carpet or upholstery, allowing them to stay cleaner longer. In addition, most cleaning agents used by “steam cleaners” are enhanced by other chemicals such as ammonia, solvents, surfactants, brighteners, and urea. While most people are not affected by these chemicals, some individuals, children, and pets can be.
